The sacraments are a channel of grace that helps us receive God’s Love.
- Baptism – The matter for the Sacrament of Baptism is water since we are united with Jesus into his death and resurrection, cleansed our sins, and welcome us into his church and kingdom.
Form: “I baptized you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”.

- Confirmation – The matter for the Sacrament of Confirmation is the Chrism Oil and the laying of hands. As this is the sealed gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened the service for the body of Christ.
Form: “Be sealed by the power of the Holy Spirit”.

- Eucharist – The material substance for the Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist is the bread and wine as it becomes the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Form: “This is my body” and “This is the cup of my blood do this in memory of me”. (These were the words of institution in the Last Supper)

- Reconciliation – The spiritual act for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is the act of penitent and confession. Since it is instituted by Jesus Christ with love and mercy to offer sinners forgiveness.
Form: “I absolve you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”.

- Anointing of the Sick – The matter for the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is anointing them with oil and laying on hands, as those individuals are suffering and unite with Jesus’ saving and healing powers.
Form: “Through this Holy Anointing may the Lord in his love and mercy help you by the Grace of the Holy Spirit and may the Lord who frees you from your sin, save you and raise you up”.

- Matrimony – The matter for the Sacrament of Matrimony is the mutual consent of the couple as they promise to live together as husband and wife and unite them in a way that they become one flesh and belong to one another.
Form: “I take you as me…. “Or “I do”.

- Holy Orders – The matter for the Sacraments of Holy Order is a baptized male since these Sacraments are for Bishops, Priest, and Deacons who are ordained and received the power and grace of their sacred duties.
Form: A consecratory prayer of the ordination ceremony.
