Dear Collaborators, Promoters, and Friends of Frassati

Peace and blessings be with you!

As we celebrate the Feast of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and mark the 4th anniversary of the Frassati Society Philippines, our hearts are filled with gratitude, not only for the graces we have received but also for the beautiful mission we share: to make known the life of a young man who dared to climb the spiritual heights with courage, charity, and unwavering joy.

Pier Giorgio once said, “The higher we go, the more we hear the voice of Christ.” But he also showed us that as we go higher as closer to God, we must never close our ears to the cries of the poor and suffering around us. His life was a harmony of deep prayer and active service, of friendship with God and friendship with the poor. And in many ways, that is the same path you and I are called to walk.

As we reflect on his legacy, three messages from Pier Giorgio speak to us with renewed urgency today. These are not just ideas to admire, they are truths which we are invited to live. And in these truths lie the challenges that, if embraced, can make our devotion more fruitful, our witness more authentic, and our mission more Christ-like.

“When God is with us, we don’t have to be afraid of anything.”

Pier Giorgio lived in turbulent times, surrounded by political instability, family tensions, and personal suffering. Yet, he never gave in to fear. He found strength in the Eucharist, courage in prayer, and direction in the Gospel. God was his rock, and that made him unshakable.

Today, we are also surrounded by uncertainty, wars and tribulation, political mess, economic pressures, spiritual confusion, broken relationships, and personal trials. But like Pier Giorgio, we are invited to look upward and anchor ourselves in God.

My dear collaborators, do you begin each day with God? Have you offered your fears, your plans, your doubts to Him?

Let your first act each morning be prayer. Find a moment of silence to say, “Lord, walk with me today.” And when you are tempted to retreat in fear, remember that you are not alone for the Lord walks beside you.

“In a world gone astray from God, there is no peace — but it also lacks charity, which is true and perfect love.”

Pier Giorgio’s times were marked by spiritual emptiness and moral confusion — not so different from our world today. But instead of becoming bitter or indifferent, he responded with radical love. He befriended the outcasts, gave away his possessions, and made time for the forgotten. He didn’t preach from a pulpit; he preached with his hands, his feet, and his heart.

We, too, are surrounded by indifference and woundedness. But the world doesn’t need more opinions — it needs more love.

And so I ask you, promoters and friends, who have you loved this week? Not just in words, but in deed?

Charity is not grand gestures; it’s small, faithful acts done with great love. We suggest you to call someone who is hurting. Visit a sick neighbor. Forgive someone who offended you. Bring peace to your home, your circle, your parish.

“Charity is not enough; we need social reform.”

Pier Giorgio was not content to merely hand out food or clothes. He believed that true Christian love demands transformation, not just of hearts, but of systems. He studied Catholic social teaching, got involved in youth movements, and spoke boldly against injustice. His love was tender, but also brave.

And today, we need that kind of love. The poor are not just statistics; they are our neighbors. Our faith must go beyond piety, it must push us to defend the dignity of the human person and build a more just society.

To you, my fellow devotees, I ask: Are you willing to learn more about the Church’s teachings on justice and human dignity? Will you stand for truth, even when it is unpopular?

Let us form ourselves by finding time to read, listen, and discuss. Let us act — organize or participate in communio groups, advocate, accompany. Let us raise our voices not for ourselves, but for those who have none.

Dear friends, our devotion to Blessed Pier Giorgio is not meant to remain a private admiration. It must become a public witness, one that reflects Christ’s love, alive and active in the world. Let us never forget: Frassati’s holiness was not quiet detachment, but loud love — joyful, bold, and rooted in Christ.

As we go “to the heights,” may we bring others with us. May we become more sensitive to the needs of the poor, the lost, and the brokenhearted. May we embrace the path of the Beatitudes, as Pier Giorgio did: poor in spirit, meek, merciful, pure in heart, and hungry for righteousness.

I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your commitment, your sacrifices, and your deep love for this mission. You are helping shape a new generation of Catholics who believe that holiness is not a distant dream but a daily calling. It is a mountain that can be climbed, one step at a time.

Let us journey together, always verso l’alto, always with Christ, always for others.

In Blessed Pier Giorgio,
